Purpose of this site
This site provides practical information about the whale
and dolphin watching opportunities available in Argentina and Chile and is
based on my personal experience of these countries as an independent traveller.
It does not give information about cetaceans in the Antarctic regions or off
the South Atlantic islands as I have no personal experience of these areas.

This photo of a Southern
Right whale was taken from the pier in Puerto Madryn, Argentina. The whale
swam alongside the pier for several minutes giving the best views
imaginable. This photo was published in the July 2009 issue of the British BBC Wildlife
magazine.
The site does not provide information regarding
accommodation, transport etc. I anticipate that visitors to the area
will have their own guidebook providing these necessary practicalities. The
information was updated during January 2010.
About me
I am an enthusiastic whale and dolphin watcher
and I also
have a love of independent travel. Information about the opportunities for
whale and dolphin watching in this part of the world can be hard to find at
times therefore I hope this site will be of some use.
Further information about
whale watching in Latin America as a whole can be found in the paper
"The State of Whale Watching in Latin America" by Erich Hoyt and
Miguel Iñíguez.
